Efficient Building Features |
Energy Efficient Building incorporates energy efficiency into every phase of the building process to enhance the well-being of the occupants of the home. Below is a list of building practices that we call standard and how they impact you!

How it benefits you! |
| Floor and roof sheathing are OSB (Oriented Strand Board). | Making OSB does not require big trees which is good for the environment. It is also more durable; making your roof and walls last longer. |
| Install a properly sized heating and cooling system for the house size. | This makes your system run more efficiently, saving you money on the utility bills. It also sustains an overall comfort air quality. |
| Use raised energy heel trusses. | This allows more insulation in the attic above the joint of the exterior wall and ceiling where there is very little air movement. This decreases the potential for condensation and mold. |
| Foam insulated foundation. | This stops the ground moisture penetration into the basement and reduces the potential for a damp, moldy basement. |
| All duct work is installed within the home's thermal envelope and never installed in an exterior wall. | Keeping all the ductwork within the thermal envelope ensures you will not lose any heat or coolness to an unfinished area. |
| High efficiency filter. | This makes the air of the home healthier by capturing airborne allergens, pollen, pet dander, mold spores, bacteria, and other contaminants. |
| Install energy efficient appliances. | These appliances use less energy to operate because they have more insulation, advanced compressors, better door seals, and accurate temperature controls. Energy Star rated appliances save an average of 30% over standard models. |
| Our insulation meets and exceeds national code requirements. | This helps keep the exterior and interior temperature and noise separate. |
| Install high performance windows. | This is additional protection from letting the air inside escape or the outside air come in the house. These windows incorporate advanced technologies like low-emittance (low-e) glass coatings, gas filler between layers, and composite framing materials. |
| The home is tightly sealed. All holes, cracks, and seams in construction and duct work are tightly sealed. | This reduces the chance of any conditioned air escaping from the home. |
| Install vinyl siding. | This siding is water resistant, reducing any chance of water coming into your home. It also saves you a lot of money on maintenance. |
| We build all of our homes with covered entries. | This is a small thing, but it helps to prevent water intrusion, reducing maintenance and enhancing durability. |
| Factory built trusses. | These trusses are a more efficient use of raw materials. It also eliminates cutting on the jobsite, allowing us to build your home faster. |
| All of our homes have modern re-designed toilets. | These re-designed toilets have bowls and tanks that use less water than a standard toilet. |
| All of our homes are built with modern faucets on all sinks, tubs, and showers. | These new faucet aerators provide the same flow regardless of the water pressure to reduce water use and the energy to heat it. |
| Install a 90%+ Energy Efficient Furnace. | This is a furnace that operates more efficiently. |
| Wrap the entire home in house wrap. | This keeps moisture out of the house. |
